Reclaiming the old City pool

we are Creating a space for everyone

Our main building was built in 1936 as a changing room facility for the Russellville City Pool. Years later, the 12-foot deep pool was filled in with dirt, and the building was renovated to serve as the headquarters for the newly formed River Valley Arts Center. A local company, City Corp, donated a smaller separate building that we now use as our pottery studio. The old, filled-in pool is now a grassy yard, protected on three sides by all of our buildings in use - the main building, the pottery studio, and the old chemical room that currently hosts all of our kilns. This protected area is a wonderful space for outdoor acoustic performances. We've strung up some party lights, shown in the photo above, and we are applying for grants to allow for the construction of an outdoor stage, complete with ADA-compliant ramps to allow access for everyone to this area. We are reclaiming this old city pool.    It will become a place of artistic expression for everyone!
