Art Center Committees help us keep overhead costs down while providing various classes, events, productions and programs to our community. We always need help!!
Each Committee is made up of members of our Board of Directors AND volunteers from our community. One of the Art Center board members will oversee or chair the committee.

River Valley Arts Center Committee Descriptions
Committee Name Primary Responsibility
Building & Grounds Oversee and assist with physical and aesthetic development and upkeep of facilities. Assist with maintenance of Memorial Garden and landscaping around Arts Center through weed control, trimming shrubs, raking leaves, and planting flowers. Meet: Seasonally
Education Recommend and assist with review and development of cultural and artistic education, events, activities and programs in both visual and performing arts for children and adults. This includes classes, tours, lectures, special demonstrations and Art Camps. Meet: Fall and Spring
Finance Assist with annual financial strategy by developing budget projections, identifying possible donors and sponsors, developing grants, foundation and corporate proposals and long range funding strategies such as endowment funding. Develop and implement an annual schedule of fund raising events for general operations. Meet: Quarterly
Gift Shop Review gift shop items and policies. Meet: As needed
Hospitality Arrange refreshments, greeters, docents for Exhibit Opening Receptions, Art Walk, visitors, events and activities. Meet: as needed
Membership Development and implementation of annual membership drive, plus strategies for continuous work year around to increase membership on all levels. Recommend membership incentives and recognition. Meet: Fall and Spring
Performing Arts Development and implementation of current and long range plan for performing arts activities including both local and outside professionals. Assist in educating and developing audiences for performing arts. Meet: February for Summer Performance Planning
Publicity & Marketing Assist with development of a brochure and other marketing materials. Update web site and social media content. Take photographs to use for publicity and historical information. Work with all committees in publicizing events and activities. Meet: Nov/Dec after gallery year is slated April/May after Art Camps scheduled
Visual Arts Select artists who are invited to exhibit in the Gallery each calendar year. Assist with monthly striking and hanging of exhibits. Assist with artist selections for offsite exhibits and visual arts activities such as Art Walk. Meet: August, Gallery year slated by October
Special Activities Develop and implement programs and projects that are not within the scope of a specific committee such as pARTy in the Park, Beaux Arts Academy, and activities that serve several functions that advance the arts and Arts Center. Meet: Fall and Spring
